Wilma O. Unnasch

November 4, 1917 — June 28, 2005

Wilma O. Unnasch, 87, of Houston, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Wilma was born on November 4, 1917, in Pleasant Hill Township, Winona County to Earl and Elsie (Hoppe) Northrup. She was raised in rural Houston and attended the Ireland Rural School. On September 6, 1938, Wilma married Donald H. Unnasch. She farmed with her husband in the Houston Area and lived on the farm until entering the nursing home in August of 2000. Wilma's interests included embroidery, crocheting, cooking, dancing, gardening and sewing. She was an active member of the Ridgeway United Methodist Church and the WSCS group there, and the Order of the Eastern Star 191 in Pickwick. Wilma's family was the centerpiece of her life, as evidenced by the number of Christmas celebrations held at her family farm. She was great at driving tractor, but wasn't much for driving a car. She is survived by two sons: Roger (Bonita) Unnasch of Rushville, Neb. And Laurel (Cheryl) Unnasch of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters: Loretta (Gerald) Lanz of Lewiston, Minn. and Lucille (Robert) Finch of LaCrosse, Wis.; 11 grandchildren: Rose, Harvey, Carol, Lea, Christine, Laurie, Nichole, Paula, Jill, Chad and Trisha; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Northrup of Wheatridge, Colo; and many nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, David John Goetting. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, at the Ridgeway United Methodist Church in Ridgeway, Minn. with the Rev. Donald Budd officiating. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minn. Friends may call from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel where there will be an Eastern Star Service at 8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Please feel free to leave a memory of Wilma at www.hofffuneralhomes.com. Wilma's family would like to thank all of the staff at Valley View Nursing Home for all of their love and support while she was in the nursing home. Also, a special thanks to those in the community who were so supportive to Wilma since the time of her husband's death.
