William Leo Rumpca II "Jr.", 82 of Winona, died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Rochester, St. Mary's Campus.
William was born May 24, 1935 in Winona to William Leo Sr. and Helen (Kulas) Rumpca. On October 31, 1953, he married Betty Googins. William worked for Brom's Foundry for 41 years before owning and operating Rumpca's Tri State Salvage with his son, Mike. Following Mike's death, William retired.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and looked forward to the yearly hunting trip with his boys. He also enjoyed going to the casino and going shackin' which meant going for a drive. William had tremendous pride in his Polish heritage. He had a deep faith in God and was proud to be a member of his daughter's congregation at the Apostolic Faith Family Church. His family was his life and his love for them was evident through the pride he had for each one of them.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Debra Ann (Merritt) Bebout, Douglas William (Kathy) Rumpca, William Leo III (Jody) Rumpca and Douglas William Jr. (Staci) Rumpca; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Rumpca and Ronald Todd; sisters, Helen Sand, Ann Gilbertson and Barb Siecrest; many nieces and nephews, and his faithful four-legged companion, Minnie.
William was preceded in death by his son, Michael Leo Rumpca; granddaughter, Samantha Jo Rumpca; parents; brothers, Bruce Todd and Buddy Todd and sisters, Elaine Bedeau and Patricia King.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview with the Reverend Ken Shirley officiating. Private family burial will take place at Fremont Scotch Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service.
