TREMPEALEAU, WIWilliam R. Sommers, 77, of Trempealeau, WI, passed away May 10, 2014, at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center.Bill was born February 3, 1937 to William F. and Ferne (Krause) Sommers in Winona. After completing high school Bill entered into the United States Air Force and served from 1955 to 1959. On September 16, 1977 he married Darlene Allen. In his early years, Bill and his father owned and operated Buffalo Shooter's Supply where he sold and repaired guns. Over time the business transformed into Buffalo Fireworks and is still in operation today. Bill worked there for over 54 years. Bill enjoyed all things outdoors. He took pleasure in deer, duck, and pheasant hunting, fishing, and loved riding his Harley. He also enjoyed collecting antique cars and tractors along with building model aircraft and cars. Most of all, Bill loved his puppy dogs he had throughout the years. Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene of Trempealeau, WI; children, Debi Sommers of Pine Creek, WI, Bryce (Barbara) Courrier of Rushford, and Curt (Robin) Courrier of Rushford; mother, Ferne Sommers of Winona; sister, Faye Salwey of Trempealeau; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda; father, William F., and uncle Johnny Sommers.Services for Bill were held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview, MN. Burial took place at Fountain City Cemetery.
