William (Bill) James Tuohy, born January 6, 1965 in Oakland, California, passed unexpectedly January 28, 2022 in Danville, California. Bill was 57 years old and will be remembered as a loving husband, stepfather, son, brother, cousin, friend, co-worker, electrical engineer, chip designer, music lover, hobbyist maker of speaker systems, cyclist, jeep enthusiast, athlete and sports fan. A Bay Area native, Bill graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1983 as class valedictorian and member of the varsity football team. Bill attended UC Berkeley for his undergraduate work, earning a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Bill worked in the tech industry in Silicon Valley from 1987 through 2008, when he decided to pursue his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigne. Bill then went on to the University of Minnesota where he completed an ABD Doctorate in 2015. Living and studying in the Midwest allowed him to spend time with many relatives in Minnesota. He also reconnected with a dear friend, Sherry Mollert, who later became the love of his life. Sherry would then add Tuohy to her name as they joined in marriage in 2011. Sherry brought her four beloved children to their union and a family was formed. After Bill completed his ABD Doctorate they moved to California where Bill worked at Google as a successful electrical engineer and chip designer. The family would spend time in both California and Minnesota, enjoying married life, travel, recreation, hobbies, and proudly welcoming an adorable grandson into the family in 2017.
