August 1, 1954 — August 6, 2011

Wendy Lea Hermanson, 57, of Utica, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at her home near Fremont after a courageous battle with cancer. Wendy was born August 1, 1954 in Cut Bank, Montana to Ralph and Jeanette (Lukkason) Blair. After graduating from East Bremmerton High School in Bremmerton, Washington, Wendy moved to Minnesota to be closer to family. Together, Wendy and Merlin enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and growing fruits and vegetables in their garden. They were members at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. Each year, she volunteered at the annual Norwegian Christmas party. Wendy was extremely friendly and loved to tell stories. A gifted seamstress, Wendy not only made her own wedding gown, but also formal dresses for her daughters. She adored her family and grandchildren and loved playing card games with them. Wendy worked at the Peterson Legion for several years and managed the bar and restaurant in Troy. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Merlin Hermanson; son, Mike Hermanson of Rushford; daughters, Tara Hermanson of Rushford, Lisa Hermanson of Shoreview, and Sammy Hermanson of Rushford; 6 grandchildren, Emily (14), Indy (13), Ethan (10), Kyla (6), Matthew (4) and Nerisse (3); brother, Jim (Marleen) Blair of Montana; brother-in-law, Roger Holst of Chatfield; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Wendy is preceded in death by her parents; son, Joshua; brother, Raymond; sister, Luanne; and nephews, Steven and Eric. A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service of Rushford and also one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral service will be at 11am on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Lanesboro with Reverend Janet Warnes officiating. Interment will be in the North Prairie Cemetery.
