Wayne Raymond Benson, 48, of Winona, Minn. died on Saturday, October 3, 2009, following a short battle with cancer at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona. Wayne was born on November 14, 1960, in Winona to Irvin and Judy (Okland) Benson. He was raised in Winona and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1979. After high school Wayne worked for Fiberite in Winona for twenty years. He then worked for Composite Products Inc. for five years. Wayne most recently worked for ORC in Winona. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona. Wayne was a great fan of NASCAR, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Twins. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his mother, Judy of Winona; three daughters: Jennifer (Gary) Gumbert of Winona, Carolyn (Ryan) Moen of Buffalo City, Wis., and Amanda (Joshua) Hron of Oshkosh, Wis.; three grandchildren: Hailey, Jackson, and Isabella; two brothers: Dennis (Pam) Benson of Rockland, Wis., and Scott (Cheryl) Benson of Stockton, Minn.; three sisters: Linda (Mike) Hennessy of Minnesota City, Minn., Wendy (Jeremy) Graves of Winona, and Amy Benson of Montgomery, Alabama; and a special cousin, Jennifer Lassifer. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Irvin, and one grandchild, Aiden Gumbert. There will be a memorial service for Wayne at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel with the Rev. Scott Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service.
