Wayne C. Ellringer, 83, of Elba passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning October 5, 2010 at St. Elizabeth's Healthcare Center in Wabasha. He was born September 19, 1927 in Elba to Michael and Gertrude (Burbach) Ellringer. Wayne served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Iceland. He and Marcella Ullman were married on May 8, 1948 in Elba. The couple made their home near Elba, where ran a small farm and worked as a mechanic. For 29 years he worked for Winona County Highway Department until his retirement. In his retirement Wayne worked with his son Allan in his mechanic shop. Survivors include his wife Marcella, three children; Steven Ellringer of Elba, Kathryn (Mike) Johanns of Kasson and Allan Ellringer of Elba, 7 grandchildren; Kenneth Dayitt, Shannon Osborn, Tanner Johanns, Janna Johanns Vilen, Daniel Ellringer, Miranda Diez and Samantha Ellringer, six great-grandchildren, a sister Rita Kingsley of Rochester and a brother Bernard "Bear" Ellringer of Elba. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. A Mass will be said on behalf of Wayne at a later date.
