Wayne L. "Buzzy" Millard, 72, of St. Charles passed away at his home Friday, March 18th in St. Charles. Buzzy was born May 28, 1943 in Rochester to Lloyd and Margaret (Ihrke) Millard. He lived his entire life in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1961.
Following high school Buzzy served in the U.S. Army. He then began his truck driving career, having driven for Home Produce, Smith and Smith, Patterson Quarries, and retired from Milestone in 2008.
Buzzy served many years on the St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the St. Charles American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling chicken and steaks during special events in the community, often using his secret spice recipe. Buzzy also enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas with Dianne Speer's group.
Survivors include a sister Faye (Larry) Thoma of Mesa, AZ, nephew John (Jenni) Williams of Lewiston, niece Julie (Alan) Unnasch of Waumandee, WI, Lawrence (Ashley) Thoma of Brooklyn Park, MN, grand nieces and nephews; Josh Kamrowski, Harlie Williams, Jessica Bruha, Cassandra Miller, Richard Unnasch, Nichloas Unnasch,. He was preceeded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Buzzy's life will be 7 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles, led by funeral celebrant Jenny Hoff. A reception will follow. Cremation will follow services with burial in the spring at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7PM Wednesday March 23rd at the funeral home.
