Walter R. Voss, 93, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Walter was born December 10, 1911 in Echo, MN to Paul and Emma (Sherer) Voss. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 87th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and was in the D-Day Invasion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.He married Hazel Ring on August 24, 1957 in Faribault, MN. Walter worked for the State of Minnesota Department of Weights and Measures for 29 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of the St. Charles United Methodist Church, American Legion and VFW in St. Charles. Walter enjoyed traveling and refinishing furniture in his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; son, Earl (Catherine) of St. Charles, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Margaret, Elsie, Doris, Frieda, Gertrude and Louise, and two brothers, Albert and Louis. Funeral services are planned for Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2:00pm at St. Charles United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sharon Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes ?
