ST. CHARLESWalter Otto Schubert, 102 of St. Charles went to the be in the arms of the Lord Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Golden Living Center - East in Rochester.Walter was born September 8, 1912 to Walter H. and Edna (Schwager) Schubert on the home farm in Bethany. He married Pauline Luster of Charles City, IA in 1938 and adopted a baby, Tana Marie, in 1947. After they divorced, he married the love of his life, Isabelle (Belle) Shephard, bringing into the family four more children.Walter graduated from Lewiston High School in 1931. Throughout his life, he worked as a sales clerk, during WWII as a Coast Accountant in a defense plant, as a traveling salesman throughout southern Minnesota and finally as a buyer in Minneapolis.Walt retired to the home farmstead in Utica in 1973. He became very active in his lifelong church, Our Savior's Moravian Church and served as a secretary/treasurer, trustee and an Elder. He loved all types of sports, walleye and trout fishing, Minnesota Vikings football, and his flowers.He is survived by his daughter, Tana (Jerry) Daniels of Rowlett, TX; sister, Dr. Florence Schubert of Rochester; step-son, Paul Shephard; step-daughters, Gayle Carlson and Shirley (Mark) Johnson; two grandchildren, April and Tommy both of Forney, TX; and many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.Walt is preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline; second wife, Belle; brother, Elmer Schubert and step-daughter, Marcia.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Moravian Church in Altura with the Reverend Dave Sobek officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. Walt will be laid to rest at Bethany Moravian Cemetery.The family prefers memorials to Our Savior's Moravian Church or to the donor's choice.
