Rushford, MN Walter M. "Walt" Britt, 80, of Rushford, MN, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Walter was born on May 21, 1930 to Lewis W. and Margaret M. (Gyhra) Britt in Riverside, CA. He grew up in Du Bois Nebraska with his family and attended high school until enlisting in the US Army during the Korean War. He served his country from 1948-1953, obtaining the Bronze Star and a Letter of Appreciation from President Kim Dae-Jung. On March 17, 1952, Walt married Muriel Hungerholt. He worked for Norman's Electric in Rushford for 36 years as an electrician, before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and enjoyed their cod fish supper. He played amateur baseball for 40 years and watched his son's and grandchild play sports. Walt loved watching country westerns on TV, helping people, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed. Walt is survived by his wife of 58 years, Muriel; two sons, Walter "Bud" Britt of Rushford, MN and Keith (Leslie) Britt of Pahrump, NV; three grandchildren, Kaycee Ottenson, Alicia Britt, and Tyler Britt; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Chase Ottenson; brother Roger (Irene) Britt of Tecumseh, NE; sister Patricia (Richard) Lee of Du Bois, NE; three brother-in-laws, Duane (Velma) Hungerholt of Lanesboro, MN, Danny Hungerholt of Rushford, MN, and Ernie (Betty) Hungerholt of Las Vegas, NV; two sister-in-laws, Janet (Willard) Ronnenberg of Rushford, MN and Shirley (Larry) Richman of Peculear, MO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lewis, Willard, Richard, and Winston. The Funeral Service for Walter will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will follow at Hungerholt Cemetery in rural Peterson with Military Honors. Friends may call from 5-8pm on Thursday, June 10 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - Rushford Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
