Vivian F. Carroll, 100, of Winona, MN, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Thornton Nursing Home in Lansing, IA. Vivian was born on April 10, 1907 in Plainview, MN to John and Cecelia (Hart) Erding. She attended Winona Teachers Normal School and was a teacher in Minnesota City and Stockton for 19 years. She also taught Head Start in the Winona School District for several years. On June 9, 1931, Vivian married George Carroll in Spring Valley, MN. She was a member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona, MN and also the Rural Teachers Association. Vivian is survived by her daughter Jane (Gerald) Hawes of Lansing, IA; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Anderson of Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son John, two brothers, and three sisters. The Funeral Mass for Vivian is scheduled for 2:00pm Friday, May 18, 2007 at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Winona, MN with the Monsignor Cletus Hawes officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona, MN at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
