Violet Simon

Elba, Violet Marie Simon, 88, of Elba died Monday afternoon at the home of her son in Elba. Violet was born January 28, 1916 in Highland Township of Wabasha County to Robert and Maude (Turner) Kellam. She and Cleon Simon were married on September 14, 1937 in Elba. The couple farmed on Fisher Hill and later moved to Fairwater before making their home Elba Village. Violet was a farm homemaker. She belonged to St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba. She enjoyed gardening. Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Elba and Leo (Marion) of Caledonia, two grandsons; Brad and Trevor, six great-grandchildren, a brother Valentine Kellam of Kellogg, two sisters Evelyn Spring of Plainview and Darlene Holst of Elgin. Her husband Cleon preceded her in death on November 4, 1999.A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 AM Thursday until the time of services at the church.
