Wabasha Vesta Mae Case, 95, of Reads Landing died Friday March 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha.She was born August 2, 1918 in St. Charles to Guy and Vera (Smith) Rainey. Vesta graduated from St. Charles High School and furthered her education in Business Education School. Vesta worked for Production Credit Association, then for St. Charles attorneys Al Bergh and later Roger Poole. On March 1, 1944 she and Henry Lawrenz were married. He died in 1981. In 1984 Vesta and Charles Case were married. He survives. Vesta and Henry "Hank" purchased Lewiston Hardware, where they worked together. In 1965 they moved to Wabasha where Vesta opened the Bargain Barn Antiques, selling antiques and restoring furniture. She and Henry also opened the Bait Shop resort at Reads Landing. Vesta was a good musician and enjoyed playing and singing with her family. Survivors include her husband Charles, a brother James (Jeanne) Rainey of St. Charles, nephews Dan (Carol) and Fran (Dawn) Rainey and several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband Henry, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy and Jack Rainey. Services to remember Vesta will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 1st, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, led by Funeral Celebrant Jenny Hoff. A reception will follow with burial in Saratoga Cemetery.
