Dover, Minn. Velma Rose Murphy, 73, of Dover died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Season's Hospice in Rochester. Velma was born on July 26, 1932 in Chatfield to John and Anna (Mudrich) Lenn. She attended High Forest Country School and Stewartville High School. In 1955, Velma married Howard Murphy. They moved to St. Charles for a short time and later moved to the Dover area. She worked at Waters and Connelly, SS Kresgy (K-Mart), and the Chatfield Meat Market. Howard passed away in 1990. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Rochester and the American Legion Auxiliary in St. Charles. She was also a member of the United Church of Christ in St. Charles. Velma will be remembered for her love of fishing, cooking, gambling, and gardening. Velma is survived by one brother; Charles (Charlyne) Lenn of Pine Island, MN, three sisters; Doris Bartz of Oakdale, MN, Virginia Nord of Rochester, MN, and Shirley (Earle) Thomann of Rochester, MN, and a special friend; Vern Speer. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Norma Larson, and two brothers-in-law; Fred Bartz and Wayne Nord. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday April 12 at United Church of Christ in St. Charles with Pastor Jason Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
