WINONAVada A. (Waide) Karasch passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at her home. Vada was born in Providence, Kentucky on April 21, 1925 to Ewell Edwin Waide and Verna (Cates) Waide. She attended Central High School in Evansville, Indiana and college in Winona. She was united in marriage to Eugene Karasch on November 23, 1942 in Evansville, INHer life was fulfilled by caring for her family as well as serving others as a dedicated nurse for Dr. Boardman, and Sauer Memorial Home for many years. Together with her husband, Eugene, they owned and operated Karasch Realty in Winona during the 70s and 80s, serving as a Broker in MN and WI. Vada served as President of Professional Business Women's Association in Winona. In her early years, she was also a switchboard operator for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company. Her first job was as a car-hop on rollerskates at the Farmer's Daughter Drive Inn. Vada loved dancing and was taught when she was four years old, standing on her daddy's feet while he danced. She also loved gardening; bird watching; fishing; traveling cross country, residing mainly near Phoenix, AZ for 10 years during their retirement; reading, hiking, cooking, baking, and canning. She was also a creative writer and seamstress. Vada loved history and was proud of her Cherokee heritage. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.Vada is survived by her husband of 72 years, Eugene J. Karasch. She is further survived by her children, Marie Meyer, Carolyn Hill, James (Sheila) Karasch, Susan Waide, Rita (David) Severin, and Michael (Maria) Karasch; sisters, Theda E. Snelling and Norma Jean Meyers; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other family members. Vada is preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren, Mikey Karasch and Jessica Hill. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Sterling House, Winona Health, and Winona Area Hospice.Services to remember Vada will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with visitation one hour prior. The Reverend Richard Dernek will officiate the service.
