Truman Frederick "Doc" Fabian, 88 of St. Charles, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family and is now reunited with his "Beautiful Bride," Donna.Doc was born May 18, 1924 in Utica to William and Mabel (Bartelson) Fabian. On August 7, 1953, he married Donna Greethurst. Doc worked as a mason and cement finisher for many years for Wolter Lumber Company until starting his own business, Doc's Construction. He laid the foundations of many houses and buildings in and around St. Charles. His name can be found etched in many sidewalks and driveways around town. Doc has enjoyed woodworking all of his life, and in recent months was still passing time by building bluebird houses. He was a farmer at heart and in his retirement years he enjoyed raising cows, driving his antique tractors, and selling his famous sweetcorn. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and most importantly spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. Doc and Donna were blessed with the friendship of their card club for more than 40 years and enjoyed many travels with them. Doc was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.Survivors include his three children, Sandy (Jim) Leisen of St. Charles, Randy (Sue) Fabian of New Lisbon, WI and Dawn (Fran) Rainey of St. Charles; eight grandchildren, Josh (Alanna), Mike (Lori), Tim, Keri, Elizabeth (Adam), Laura (Marshall), Amy and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Benjamin and Madilyn and two on the way; sisters, Donna Fabian of Lewiston and Lorraine Neumann of St. Charles; many nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, George Greethurst; his dog, Lucy; and very special friends and caregivers, Maria and Jessica Salas.He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna on August 25, 2012; parents; two sisters, Inez Walters and Eunice Baker; and three brothers, Maurice, Melvin and Harvey Fabian.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in St. Charles with Seasons Hospice Chaplain Lincoln Engelbert officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
