Thomas G. "Tom" Connaughty, 71, of Eyota died Wednesday, February 8th peacefully, in his home in the care of hospice.
Tom was born October 5, 1945 in Winona to John and Grace (Mundt) Connaughty. He grew up on the family farm north of Lanesboro graduating from Lanesboro High School in 1964. Tom and Mary Moran were married September 4, 1965 at North Prairie Lutheran Church. They lived in Chester until moving to Eyota to make their home in 1971. Tom worked 15 years for Frazier Construction as a back hoe operator. In 1979 he went on his own as a back hoe operator and established Tom Connaughty Construction. Tom was known for his witty sense of humor and his kind heart, always doing for others.
Survivors include his wife Mary, children; Michon Connaughty (Norb Novotny) of Eyota, Michelle Connaughty of Eyota, Melissa Connaughty of Rochester, Marshal (Kirsten) Connaughty of Chester, and Marnie (Jeff) Eveslage of Rochester, six grandchildren; Cameron Christian, Laynee Poole, Taven Poole, Jack Connaughty, Eve Connaughty and Brinley Eveslage, siblings; Bob (Janet) Connaughty of Chatfield, Noreen (Sheldon) Plath of Plymouth, Keith (Marilyn) Connaughty of Lanesboro, and Jackie (Delbert) Hendershot of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by a son Michael, a brother Norman Connaughty and a sister Harriett Parsons. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eyota with the Reverend Jon Vollrath officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
