Tilford Jerome Rain

Tilford Rain, 93, passed on to glory on April 20, 2024, at Chosen Valley Care in Chatfield.

Tilford Jerome Rain was born October 15, 1930, in Lanesboro hospital, to Emil and Tena (Redalen) Rain.  He attended the country school in Root Prairie, and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1948. On September 21, 1952, he married Betty Trogstad in Pilot Mound Lutheran Church.  He farmed in Root Prairie area all his life, until age 86 when he sold the farm and moved to Chosen Valley apartments in Chatfield.

Tilford was a member of Root Prairie Lutheran Church and served on the church council and sang in the choir; plus was an officer on the cemetery association for several years. Tilford in his younger years enjoyed dancing, riding horses, snowmobiling, playing softball, and best of all being a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty in 2001; 2 sisters; sisters, Betty and Irene. He is survived by many nephews and nieces, who loved him dearly.

Funeral Service for Tilford will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Root Prairie Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be 11:30-1:00 before the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Root Prairie Lutheran Church.  Riley Funeral Home of Chatfield, is assisting the Rain family with arrangements.  Online condolences are welcome at rileyfuneralhomes.com
