Lewiston, Thomas J. "Bud" Young, 86, of Lewiston, formerly of Rushford and St. Charles, died Sunday May 1, 2005 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. Bud was born July 29, 1918. On April 15, 1939 he and Elsie Bergmann were married in Wilson, they resided there until moving to St. Charles in 1951. The couple farmed south of St. Charles until moving to town in 1989. He also worked for North Star Foods, Home Produce and GA Elevator, all of St. Charles. Elsie died September 3, 1995. Bud moved to Rushford in 2000 and to Lewiston in 2004. Bud enjoyed had a great love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Survivors include three children, Karen Briske (Steve Norgren) of Rochester, Wayne (Judy) Young of St. Charles and Larry (Diann) Young of Lewiston, seven grandchildren; Mark (Tammy) Briske of Kasson, Kimberly (Ed) Carlson of Rochester, Tricia (Rich) Loch of Hampton, Teyton (Lisa) Young of Rosemont, Travis Young of Dover, Traci (Brian) Strittmatter of Plymouth and Tanner (Krystal) Young of St. Charles, 12 great-granchildren, two step great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ethel Harrison of Austin and Grace Strauss of Dakota, one brother Jack (Edna) Young of Kimball, MN. In addition to his wife Elsie he was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel with Funeral Celebrant John Wagenaar officiating. Burial will follow in Witoka Cemetery.
