Eyota, Thomas Richard "Tom" Schott, 66, of Eyota died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Rochester Methodist Hospital after an eight month battle with leukemia. Tom was born September 29, 1944 in Winona to William and Beatta (Speltz) Schott. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1962 and from Winona State College in 1967. Following college he served in the United States Army Reserve, stationed in Fort Ord, CA. Tom and Dana Reps were married on August 26, 1967. They lived in Marshall, MN, where he was employed by the State of Minnesota. They moved to Sioux City, IA and Kansas City, MO for the five years he worked as a district manager for Falstaff Brewing Corporation. In 1976 they moved to Traverse City, MI, where Tom worked as a district manager for Miller Brewing Company for three years. In 1979 they moved to Eyota and Tom became the President/CEO of Schott Distributing Company, Inc. Tom belonged to the Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. He served on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association, was involved in committee work for Eyota, having served on the Planning Commission. Tom's life was centered on his loves: family, his passion for the beer business and the Gophers and Cardinals sports teams. He was an avid Cardinal fan, continually filled with hope for the 'next season.' He enjoyed all things German, especially German brewing tradition, and was interested in his Luxembourg heritage. Survivors include his wife Dana, four children, Kristopher Schott (fiancï¿1/2©e Jill) of Eyota; Kelly Schott Jertson of Eyota; Kourtney (Beau) Hebert of Robbinsdale and Katherine (Nic) Banaszak of Brooklyn Center, seven grandchildren; Jazmin, Hannah, Payton, Halle, Lauren, Emma and Kadin with a grandson and a granddaughter arriving soon. He is also survived by four siblings; Mike (Mary Ellen) Schott and Bernie (Judy) Schott both of St. Charles, Bruce (Kathy) Schott of Lewiston and Mary Kay (Ken) Peshon of Winona, mother-in-law Lillian Reps of St. Charles and many nieces and nephews and six Godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, two sisters-in-law Lynda and Kathy Reps and an infant nephew. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave. SE, Rochester with the Reverend Kevin Connolly officiating. Cremation has occurred. Burial will be in the spring. Friends may call at the Church of the Resurrection in Rochester from 4-8PM Friday and one hour before services Saturday. Memorials are preferred to: Catholic Charities, Birthright of Rochester and the Luxembourg Museum in Rollingstone.
