Thomas Leo McKenna, 46 of Zimmerman, MN and formerly of Winona, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home.Tom was born October 3, 1966 in Winona to Leo Thomas McKenna, Jr and Joan (Schomers) McKenna. In 1985, he graduated from Winona Senior High School and joined the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, he attended Rochester Community and Technical College and belonged to the United States Army Medical Reserves. Tom became a pipe insulator and most recently worked for the Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local #34. In 1989, Tom met the love of his life, Sherri Lynn Hartzell while in the Army Reserves. They were married at their home in Zimmerman on July 7, 2007.Tom enjoyed spoiling his dog, working on cars, driving his pontoon, snowmobiling, skiing and spending time with friendsHe is survived by his wife, Sherri of Zimmerman; his parrot, Buddy; dog, Kodi; parents, Leo and Joan McKenna of Winona; three sisters, Lisa (Bruce) Myers of Burnsville, Linda (Derek) Rydolm of Warner Robbins, GA, and Mary Jo McKenna Brummer; nieces and nephews, Ross, Jordan, Alyssa, Meagan, Alex, Madeline, Samantha & Morgan; great-nephew, Elijah; Sherri's parents, Sue & Ken Hartzell of Cornell, WI; sister-in-law, Carrie (Dan) Priem of Brooklyn Center and their children Tyler, Cole and Luke; brother-in-law, Jeremy (Darsie) Hartzell and their children; Jenessa, Zoe and Kenny and many other relatives and close friends.Visitation will be 5 - 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with a Prayer Service at 7:30, followed by a time to share memories of Tom. On Saturday, March 9, 2013, Visitation will continue in the Commons Area at St. Mary's from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Reverend James Berning officiating with the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 providing Full Military Honors immediately following.
