St. Charles, Thomas Neumann "Tom" Frederick, 64, of rural St. Charles, died Monday morning January 31, 2011 at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital in Rochester, following a very brief illness. Tom was born August 6, 1946 in Rochester to Howard E. and Cora E. (Neumann) Frederick. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1964 and attended Winona State University before entering the United States Army. Tom proudly served in the Army Security Agency, attached to the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam from 1969 - 1970. Following his discharge Tom returned home to farm on the family farm in Olmsted County, north of St. Charles. Tom was a member of the St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War Posts. He loved all sports, especially following his Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gopher Basketball teams. Tom enjoyed visiting with his friends and trips to the casino. Survivors include five siblings; David (Rita) Frederick of Downey, CA, Jim (Rae) Frederick of St. Charles, Mary Frederick (Alan Zelicoff) of Albuquerque, NM, Bill (Brenda) Frederick of Rochester and Lisa (Darrel) Schroeder of Rochester, six nieces and nephews; Kaitlyn and Courtney Schroeder, Jeremy Taylor, Angela Hanson, Keith and Kim Berger, great nieces and nephews; Lindsey, Joshua, Nicole, Kayla, John & Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles. Cremation burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at St. Charles.
