Thelma Clarissa Wieser, 79 of Winona and formerly of Pickwick, died Friday, March 8, 2013 after a long struggle with renal disease. She was born February 15, 1934 in Indiana, PA to Norman Ellsworth and Helen Elaine (Britten) Bowman. She enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1957. While in the Air Force, she met the love of her life, Francis "Frank" Wieser and they were married May 4, 1957. Thelma enjoyed cross stitching, crochet, crossword puzzles, organizing family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the most selfless woman and was always making sure her family was well taken care of. Her greatest accomplishment was "5 healthy, polite, smart children who gave me great sons and daughters -in law and then they in turn great grandchildren."Thelma is survived by her children, Sue (Perry) Thompson of East Bethel, Judy (Steve) Hawkins of Waukesha, WI, Mark (Holli) of Pickwick, Scott (Pam Wood) of Holmen and Jan Wieser of Winona; nine grandchildren, Shanda, Drew, Sheri, Brent, Kelli, Emily, Nick, Matt and Ben; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Raylan; brother, Warren "Bo" (Mary) Bowman of PA; two sisters, Judy Spon of PA and Patricia (Greg) Nicewonger of OH; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank in 1999; sister, Barbara Joann "Jo" (Stan) Olzewski and brother-in-law, Dick Spon. Our mom's passing leaves our hearts with a true ache, no wonder we associate love with the heart and not the mind. No woman was ever loved more by her children and the multitude of friends that she touched with her life. Her outstanding character, compassion, love of life and adventure are the gifts that she passed to her family. She lives on in all we are and do.Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 12 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona with the Reverend Pamela Gnagy officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Monday at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview and one hour prior to the service at church.Thelma's family would like to say a special thank you to the Winona Health Dialysis Unit and ICU Staff for their friendship and compassion.Memorials will be dispersed among the many charities that were close to Thelma's heart. Please share a memory of Thelma, sign her online guestbook and view her video tribute when it becomes available at
