Steve Schell, 63, of Oak Ridge, in rural Altura, died Monday morning, November 27th at his home surrounded by his family. Steve was born March 18, 1954 in Rochester to Charles and Rita (Guenther) Schell. He attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1972. He farmed with his parents and attended Winona Vo-Tech for agriculture. Steve had five children. He continued to farm on his family dairy farm on Oak Ridge and was a partner in Oak Ridge Grain Service. Steve worked hard and enjoyed his free time with hunting trips, collecting toy tractors, boating, camping, Ranger rides and riding his Harley.
Steve and Jodi Erdmann were married in 2001 ad raised their families together.
Survivors include his wife Jodi, children; Trisha (Josh Lehnertz) Chandler of Lewiston, Jessica (Brian) Lingen of Winona, Samantha Schell of Albert Lea, Kayla (Kurt) Munsch of Dover, John (Jenna) Schell of Minnesota City, step-children, Jackie (Shane) Jensen of Altura, Rhonda (Ben) Overkamp of St. Charles, Amber (Jason) Beck of St. Charles, Ashley (Shawn) Van Gundy of St. Charles, Eddie (Janell Sommers) Fitzgerald of Lewiston, T. J. Fitzgerald of Rochester, 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, siblings; Ann Marie (David) Dose of Lake City, Cathy (Paul) Nierode of Madison WI, Linda (Gary) Kieffer of Utica, Robert (Shelly) Schell of Altura, Jane (Lyle) Bonow of Bethany and Sara Schell of Lewiston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law.
Funeral Mass will be 11 am Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with the Reverend Chinnapa Pothireddy officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Wednesday at Hoff Celebration of Life Center Goodview - Winona. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
