Stephen Guy "Hammer" Hansen, 69, of St. Charles died Friday, March 29th at his home. Steve was born July 25, 1948 in Winona to Larry and Bernice (Conway) Hansen. He graduated from St. Charles High School. Steve then entered in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a Sergeant with E Company Long Range Patrol Airborne. Following his release from the Army, Steve worked for the United States Postal Service, in both Rochester and St. Charles. He was an avid golfer, bowler and duck hunter as well as other wild game. Steve was a member of the St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War clubs, St. Charles Moose Lodge and Ducks Unlimited. He married Peggy Nisbit and they later divorced. He later married Dianne Loftus and they divorced.
Survivors include his children; Guy Hansen of St. Charles, Kim (Pat) Nesler of Ostrander and Christopher (Jen) Hansen of International Falls, grandchildren; Nicholas, Allison, Michael, Bailie, Brodi, Odin and Kjersti, two sisters, Lynette (John) Spitzer of St. Charles and Julie Herrmann of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services to remember Steve will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, led by funeral celebrant Jenny Hoff. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery.
