She then moved to Northfield where she attended St. Olaf College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1964. On June 13, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roger C. Cone at the East Chain Lutheran Church in rural East Chain. They lived in Austin, where Roger was a chiropractor and she was the director of the activity center for special needs children for two years. She loved to create opportunities for Christian women to gather, study and work together to complete the tasks of the church. She loved to work with the special needs individuals at the Home Community Options and held various offices there over the years. She was a strong Republican and greatly enjoyed taking part in the area caucuses. Signe was a community-minded woman who had the knack to bring others together for a good cause. Her greatest love was her family. Signe loved to travel and visited many destinations over the years including Norway, Italy, Russia, Alaska, Costa Rica, Israel, Mexico, Hawaii and spent many an anniversary in Door County, Wisconsin. Special memories were made with her grandchildren during the annual summer weekends at Neshonoc Campground in West Salem, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Lydia Holland, her special 'grandparents' Sandy and Eleanor Sandford, brother-in-law Phillip Gjevre and in-laws Ross and Adeline Cone.

Signe devoted her life to following the Lord and raising her children. Her greatest love was her family. She doted on her grandchildren and made holidays and birthdays special. She was known for making pumpkin muffins and carrying on family traditions. She never forgot a birthday and enjoyed giving gifts. Family was so important to her and she loved hosting get togethers.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, devotions and magazines. She had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior and was willing to always offer love and support. She especially loved orchids and had a green thumb. She truly was an amazing woman. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strong faith, kind heart and generosity and love for her family.
