HOFF CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER
Shirley M. Squires, 90, of Winona, MN died on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona.
Shirley was born on June 25, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Dorothy (Pratt) Janikowski. She was raised in Winona and attended Winona Public Schools. On November 16, 1945, Shirley was united in marriage with George Squires in Winona. Through her career she worked at NECO, Behrens Corporation and in 1992 retired from Winona Senior High School food service after 22 years. In her spare time Shirley enjoyed selling her woodcrafts at craft fairs, boating, going to the casino, bowling and most of all time with her family. She was a member of the Minnesota City Boat Club and was named the Winona City Bowling Champion.
Shirley is survived by three children: Jim (Jan) Squires, Bill (Kathy) Squires, and Cherie (Doug) MacLennan all of Winona; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jasen, Sara, Amy, Josh, Jessica, Aaron, and Brent. 14 great-grandchildren: James, George, Henry, Graham, Ian, Jaeliah, Jack, Josie, Mya, AJ, Lindsey, Anna, Madison, and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George and two brothers, Clifford and Robert.
There will be a celebration of Shirley's life at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview. Visitation will be one hour prior to the celebration. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, MN.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials directed to Winona Area Hospice.
