Shirley Jean Wiegert, age 82, of Winona, MN died of natural causes Friday, February 17, 2017 at her home where she was cared for by her daughter, Shirleen, for the last many years of her life.
Shirley was born March 22, 1934 in Dallas, TX. She was adopted shortly thereafter by Walter Black and Dorothy Culbertson-Black-Fox. Shirley worked in civil service as a budget officer. She was the president of the Rosamond, CA PTA and the local school board.
Shirley crossed the Pacific Ocean in 1953 via a troop ship with her infant daughter to join her husband assigned to occupying forces in Japan immediately after WWII. Previous residences include White Deer, TX, Rogers, AR, Elgin Air Force Base, FL, Ashiya, Japan, Rosamond, CA, Little Rock, AR, Lancaster, CA, Winona, MN.
She is survived by her children, Rev. William Shannon Black, JD of Yuba City, CA, Shirleen Kay Rinard of Winona, MN; 9 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; biological brother, JB Morris of Plano, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Willis Wiegert; brothers, Col. George Shannon Black, Bill Jones.
