Shirley Ann Wise

Rollingstone, Shirley Ann Wise, 74, of Rollingstone passed away peacefully Saturday morning July 19, 2008 at her home. Shirley was born February 3, 1934 in Winona to Earl and Helen Mailander Rietz. Her father died at an early age. Her mother then married Edward Rinn. She attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from Cotter High School in 1952. On June 19, 1954 Shirley married Julius "Joe" Wise at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone. They made their home in Rollingstone since 1955, as Shirley worked at Watkins Manor, Community Memorial Hospital, and Holy Trinity Rectory. Shirley was able to get much enjoyment out of life. She had many hobbies and interests; was an excellent ballroom dancer, loved to embroider; enjoyed all music. As her children and grandchildren grew up, she seldom missed any of their ballgames; always looking forward to card games with family and friends. She centered her life around family. Shirley belonged to Holy Trinity Parish and Rosary Society of Rollingstone. Survivors include her husband Julius "Joe" Wise, her mother Helen Rinn of Sauer Memorial Home, four sons; Steve Wise of Rollingstone, John Wise of Paducha, KY, Jim (Teresa) Wise of Cambridge, MN and Joseph E. Wise of Stockton, two daughters, Becky ( George) Westergreen of Lino Lakes, MN and Teri (Craig) Czaplewski of Sherrard, IL, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Ron (Dorothy) Rietz of Sioux City, IA and Chuck (Marian) Rinn of Buffalo, WY, a sister Ann Salberg of Rockton, IL,good friend Ellen Enright of Winona, numerous nieces and nephews and the John Finerty family. She was preceded in death by her father Earl Rietz, step-father Ed Rinn, a daughter Deborah Wise and a sister Margaret Finerty. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with The Reverend Donald Lovas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 5-8 PM Monday and 10-11 AM Tuesday. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM Monday at the church. The family wishes to give thanks to friends and neighbors who visited Shirley during her last days. We are very blessed to have had our loving daughter-in-law Teresa Wise, whose continuous support helped Shirley stay comfortable during her illness. They would also like to thank Winona Area Hospice and Gundersen Lutheran Hospital Staff for their excellent care and the American Cancer Society and Dream Foundation for helping Shirley realize her dream of visiting Disneyworld this April.
