Shirley A. Rye

RUSHFORD, MINN. - Shirley A. Rye, 76, of Rushford died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. She was born on July 26, 1929, in rural Peterson, Minn. to Gilmer and Cora (Fossum) Raaen. She was raised in the Peterson area. On December 11, 1948 she married Ervin Rye. She worked at Rush Products, Rushford School, and at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for 25 years. Shirley enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and family picnics. She is survived by one son Wayne (Jolene) Rye of Rushford; three daughters: Sandy (Dale) Rasmussen of Rushford, Marlys (Jim) Johnson of Rushford, and Mary (Jeff) Darr of Durand, Wis.; ten grandchildren: Lori, Mike, Stacey, Justin, Janna, Joshua, Lucas, Joseph, Jodie, and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Glen (Helen) Raaen of Preston, Minn., and LuVerne (Joyce) Raaen of Mabel, Minn.; two sisters: Donna (Milford) Olson of Peterson, Minn., and Betty Livingood of Wykoff, Minn.; and one aunt, Olive Peterson of Peterson, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 24, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
