Shane Robert Mayer

Shane Robert Mayer, 42, of rural Plainview died Friday August 24th in a motor vehicle accident on Olmsted County Road 2 south of Plainview. Shane was born November 18, 1964 in Rochester to Robert and Gwen (Moore) Mayer and graduated from Plainview High School in 1983. Following high school Shane farmed with his family. He later worked at Crenlo and sided homes for several years. Shane currently worked as a mechanic for Elgin Creamery. He and Robin Hughes were married February 14, 2003 in Rochester. Shane loved his animals. He also enjoyed gardening, his computer, music and was artistic in his drawings and writings. Survivors include his wife Robin, mother Gwen Mayer of Rochester, two step-sons, Alan and Jason Mills of Rochester, two sisters, Deb Mayer-Schmitz (Dan Schmitz) of Farmington and Julie Mayer (Brian Wimmer) of Rochester, his step-grandfather Myron Treder of Lewiston, parents in-law Dan & Rose Hughes of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Mayer in 2002. Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday at Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Little Valley Cemetery, rural Plainview. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home, St. Charles. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church.
