Selma Arsnow

June 11, 1919 — April 6, 2016

Selma (Dorn) Arsnow

On April 6, 2016 Selma entered her eternal home and is now at peace. Selma was born June 11, 1919 to August and Amanda (Kastner) Dorn on the family farm near Lewiston. She attended St. John's Lutheran School and Lewiston High School. At the age of 20 she moved to Milwaukee, WI to care for an elderly couple. She remained with them for four and a half years. During World War II she went to work for the US Navy in Washington DC. She returned to Milwaukee and worked for an electric power line company for 20 years. When the company closed and moved to Canonsburg, PA she moved with them and helped for two months. She then returned to work at the VA hospital in Wood, WI for two and a half years. In October of 1971 she married Ray Arsnow and moved to the new home he built in the country near Waterford, WI. There she enjoyed all the birds and wildlife. When Ray died in January of 2004, Selma moved back to Lewiston to be near her family. Her brother Raymond and Marcella helped her to adjust and to experience many new sights and adventures. Selma enjoyed traveling, especially the national parks in the west. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and good music.

Selma is survived by her sister-in-law, Marcella and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray, and sisters Irma Laubenstein, Alma Madlung and Nora Nelson; brothers, Alvin, Edgar and Raymond.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, April 10 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston with a visitation starting at 1 PM. Interment at St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be designated to St. Johns or Time of Grace.
