Scott Kester

Scott Wayne Kester, 10/26/1976 – 2/23/2025

On October 26, 1976, Scott Wayne Kester was born to Wayne and Susan Kester and his big sister/protector, Tammy (Albert) Jobes. Thanks to his early love of milk (we really should have invested in Kemps), Scott grew (and grew) to be a very large presence, literally, in the lives of those who knew him. He was a huge lover of animals of all kinds, enjoyed reading, cooking (and eating), drawing/art, and, later, playing video games. His quick, dry, and sometimes irreverent sense of humor, while enjoyed by many, often got him into trouble.

Although Scott was such a big guy, he was also one of the gentlest men on this earth. He was fiercely protective of his family and friends. He became the favorite babysitter for many family friends who knew their kids would have a blast playing with Scott and their houses would be destroyed when they got home, reflecting the fun. His favorite memory was his “Senior” trip with his buddies and Grandpa Mears, who apparently was “a lot more fun when Mom isn’t around.”

His first marriage resulted in 4 beautiful children who were the lights of his life and to whom he (thankfully!) passed on his sense of humor – Eden Elizabeth, Wayne Scott (Brandy and Adeline Rose), William Scott, and Ivy Susan. Scott shared his love of reading, cartoons, drawing, scary movies, and animals with his children. He was a big kid himself and loved to pull pranks on and with them and their cousins (Jordan (Abby and Bailee), Morgan, and Alex) – it was often joked that they would all need therapy funds instead of college funds. He later married Trisha who gave him a couple more kids to traumatize, err love, Zoë Renae (and Zhuri), Gideon Kahne, and heavenly daughter Cloë Grace. Scott’s love for Trisha was evident through their travels, their shared love of tattoos, silent communication, and his inability to say no to more animals.

Scott’s life was full of challenges, illness, and pain, but even through his struggles, his mission was to make others laugh and feel good about themselves – I don’t think he even knew how many lives he touched or how many people loved him. On February 23, 2025 (much too soon), Scott’s pain ended when he went to join his Lord (he’s your problem now!). He was preceded in death by his favorite (maternal) grandfather (I’m sure they are enjoying some BBQ together now), maternal grandmother, paternal grandparents, and cousin, Jeff (who he and his friends used to guard). He is survived and will be greatly missed by his parents, sister, wife, children, grandbabies, aunts, uncles, and many, many cousins. Rest easy, Bubba (yep, had to call you that one last time).

A get together in memory of Scott will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Chatfield at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Gittins officiating.

There will a time to share memories and enjoy a donut and coffee in memory of Scott following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Scott's name are preferred and appreciated.
