Scott A. Mrozek

April 2, 1963 — September 20, 2006

Scott A. Mrozek, 43, of Rushford and formerly of Minnesota City, died on Wednesday, September 20, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital following a short courageous battle with cancer. Scott was born on April 2, 1963, in Winona to Ervin and Ruth (Peterman) Mrozek. Scott was raised in Minnesota City. In his younger years he worked as a cook at The Hot Fish Shop, Los Robles, and the Winona Country Club. He graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1981, and graduated as a baker from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was a journeyman baker for 25 years. Scott worked as a baker in Minneapolis, as well as at Econofoods in Winona. He married Shawn Russeau on September 27, 1997, in Winona. That same year Scott and Shawn moved to Rushford where they built and operated Rushford Bakery until recent month's when Scott's illness made it unable for him to operate the bakery. Scott's interests included all kinds of hunting, musky fishing, picking mushrooms, being a Twins and Vikings fan, his dog Trixie, and teaching his boys about the outdoors. Above all things in life, the love Scott shared with his wife and his boys was his most precious treasure. And the things he taught them will live in them forever. Scott is survived by his wife Shawn; Parents Ervin and Ruth Mrozek of Minnesota City; mother and father-in-law: Marcia and Darrell Russeau of Winona; two sons: Conager and Dakota, at home; two brothers: Tim Mrozek of Minneapolis, and Robert (Heather) Mrozek of Winona; one sister: Judy (James) Panek of Dakota, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. There will be a funeral service for Scott at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford with funeral celebrant, John Wagenaar officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove City Cemetery in Rushford. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
