Samantha (Whitcomb) Kobriger, 50, of Eyota, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 20, 1968 to Jim Whitcomb and Dianne Schmidt in Rochester. On September 20, 1997 she married Jay Kobriger. While working as a physical therapist in the Sports Medicine Department at the Mayo Clinic Samantha received her doctorate in the science of physical therapy and continued to work for the Sports Medicine Department. Samantha enjoyed hunting (especially Turkeys), horseback riding, golfing, being at our place in the Black Hills, and keeping up her garden and flower beds. She was a member of the Northern Hills Women's Golf League and enjoyed the friendships she gained.
Samantha is survived by her husband, Jay; parents, Jim (Linda) Whitcomb and Dianne Schmidt; sister, Liz Whitcomb; grandma, Gloria Schmidt; aunts and uncles, Bill (Mary) Schmidt, Pete (Jan) Schmidt, Linda (Dawson) Grabau, and Rick (Peggy) Schmidt; and numerous cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dick Schmidt and Frank (Lucile) Whitcomb; and aunts and uncles, Walter (Arleen) Whitcomb, Francis (Madeline) Whitcomb, and Margaret (Wayne) Grannemann.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday at the church and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday. Please leave a memory of Samantha and view her video tribute when it becomes available at
