RUSHFORD, Minn. - Ruth Rollefson, 87 of Rushford died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Good Shepard Lutheran Home in Rushford. Ruth was born on February 5, 1916 in Gaylord, MN to Eberhard and Bertha (Whoeler) Hoerschgen. She graduated from Gaylord High School 1934. She graduated from Hamline University of Minnesota in 1938, where she played tennis, basketball and field hockey. After college, she taught high school English in Storden, MN. She married Desmond T. Rollefson on September 7, 1940 in Gaylord, MN. After living in Owatonna, MN, the couple moved to Rushford in 1943 where she was a home maker and substitute teacher in Rushford and Peterson. She was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and Naomi Women?s Circle. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, Priscilla Club and Ferndale Golf Course. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Rollefson, New Hampshire, Richard (Susan) Rollefson, Cloquet, MN, two daughters Mary Ruth Rollefson (Chris Brown), Washington D.C., Laurie (Bill) Shuman, Coppell TX. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Desmond in January 1978. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Rushford Lutheran Church with Rev. David Watson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 29, from 5:00 p.m - 7:00 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Rushford Public Library.
