Ruth I. Fagan, 91, of St. Charles, MN, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN. Ruth was born October 12, 1915 to Thomas and Eva (Gregg) Mapel in Rockwell City, IA. She graduated from High School in 1932 and attended Iowa State Teachers College and Iowa State University. On May 25, 1940 Ruth married Oliver L. Fagan. They resided in Rockwell City and farmed together on their family farm. They moved to St. Charles, MN in 1959 and continued farming until their son took over in 1976. Ruth taught school in Iowa and worked at the Elementary School in St. Charles for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Charles and served the church in many capacities. She was also a member of the Women's Homemakers Group and United Methodist Women, and loved to play bridge and 500. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Ruth is survived by two children, daughter Karel Fagan of Minneapolis, MN and son Allan (Deb) Fagan of St. Charles, MN, two grandchildren, Erin and Brent Fagan of St. Charles, MN, and a sister Dorothy Stotts of Lake City, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Oliver and sister Hazel Malohn. A Memorial Service for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 11:00AM at the United Methodist Church in St. Charles, MN with the Reverend David Laechel officiating. Burial will be held at Lake Creek Cemetery in Rockwell City, IA on Wednesday. Friends may call from 5-8PM on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Hoff Funeral Home-St. Charles Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Hoff Funeral Home-St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
