Ruth A. Johnson

PETERSON, MINN. - Ruth A. Johnson, 88, of Peterson died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Ruth was born on December 14, 1916, in Peterson, Minn. to John and Randi (Ferden) Hoff. She was raised in rural Peterson and graduated from Peterson High School in 1936. On October 3, 1942 she married Clifford Johnson. Ruth worked at Hillside Nursing Home in Rushford and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, where she was active in the Sarah Circle, WELCA, Altar Guild and the Quilting Group. She enjoyed baking, most notably for baking bread and buns. She is survived by three daughters: Beverly (Ardell) Helland of Edgerton, Wis., Karen (Lyle) Thompson of Peterson, Minn. and Doris (Jerry) Gudmundson of Rushford. Minn.; nine grandchildren: Jon(Joan) Helland, Jeff (Marion Robinson) Helland, Shari (David) Gress, Michael Helland, Michele (Lorry) Pelzl, Beth (Greg) Dietel, Jenny (John) Kahoun, Bruce (Gerri Lynn) Gudmundson and Brian Gudmundson; ten great grandchildren: Laura, Christina, David, Amanda, Leah, Jenna, Thomas, Josie, Michael and Theresa; five great-great-grandchildren: Payton, Dalton, Trenton, Dylan and Shayla; One sister, Olga Rasmussen; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Hoff and Lynda Hoff. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, six brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson with the Revs. Ronald and Janet Warness officiating. Burial will be in the West Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Peterson. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the church.
