Ruth A. Carlson, 100, of Houston, MN died Tuesday, August, 29 at Valley View Health Care and Rehab. Ruth was born January 24, 1917 in Yucatan Valley to George and Emma (Nelson) Foss.
She attended country school through 8th grade before staying home to help out on the family farm. Later, she was employed in LaCrosse, WI at a private residence as a housekeeper. During that time she met George Carlson and the two later married on February 17, 1945. They moved to George's family farm in Mound Prairie and started a family. They had two boys; John and Dale. She was a member of Cross of Christ Church in Houston. There she shared her baking and sewing skills. Other interests included reading, and conversation with friends over coffee. She loved and served her God, family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valley View Healthcare and Gundersen Clinic in Houston for the loving care given to Ruth.
Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara (Mike Horsfall) Carlson; grandsons, Eric (Andrea) Carlson, Luke (Laura Davis) Carlson, and Sam (Allison) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Soren, and Emree; and a niece, Kathryn (Mike) Anderson. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, George; sons, John and Dale; siblings, Luella, Glen, Julian and an infant sister.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, September 5th with visitation 1 hour prior at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Houston. The Rev. Linda McPeak will officiate. Burial will follow at Stone Church Cemetery, Houston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
