Russell David Ferdinand Zenk, 99 of Dayton, WA and formerly of St. Charles and Elgin, died April 7, 2013 in Dayton, WA.Russ was born March 2, 1914 in Winona to George and Mary (Jensen) Zenk. He was a Merchant Marine in WWII, delivering Ordnance to the military. On August 18, 1976, he married Violet Loppnow in Nassau, IA. Russ worked as a Journeyman Carpenter Local 35 of San Rafael, CA, being the 2nd of 4 generations to do this in the Zenk Family. He enjoyed refurbishing properties and making them into rentals until he retired. He also loved to hunt with his son and grandson, fish and play cards.He is survived by his son, David (Marie) Zenk of Waitsburg, WA; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Russ is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet, brother, Harold; sister, Vernona Andring; and grandson, Russell Zenk.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin with the Reverend Terrill Bramstedt officiating.
