Ruby Marletta Mark, 92 of Houston, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston.She was born April 6, 1919 on the Sorum Farm in Looney Valley to Oscar and Anna (Olson) Sorum. She graduated from Houston High School and on February 22, 1948 she married Weldon Mark in Looney Valley. During WWII she was a welder in California, working on the ships. She also helped Weldon farm and worked at Rush Products, Valley View Healthcare and Rehab and as a Home Health Aide in Winona. She was a lifelong member of Looney Valley Lutheran Church and more recently a member at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Ruby belonged to the Looney Valley WELCA for many years, serving as its president for a few years; she was also the first woman to be on the church council.Ruby enjoyed flowers, knitting, crocheting, cooking, reading and watching the hummingbirds.She is survived by two sons, Ray (Anne) of Houston and Ken (Rose Ann) of Waukon, IA; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Kristina, Kevin and David; three great-grandchildren, Dalton Schulte, Justin Mark and Matthew Rediske; two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Edwin) Schumacher of Houston and Laverne Hendrickson of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Ingvald, Henry and Orvin; and one sister, Gladys.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 29 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Lane Zaffke officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Houston and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
