Ruby Marie Huebner

Ruby Marie Huebner, 89, of Altura, died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Lewiston Villa Nursing Home, at Lewiston.Ruby was born November 11, 1916 in Altura, MN. She graduated from Winona High School in 1933. Ruby married Walter Huebner in Altura in June, 1947. Ruby worked on their family farm with Walter.Ruby was a faithful member of Our Savior's Moravian Church, in Altura. Her faith life was important to her as she participated in activities with Our Savior's congregation. Ruby was a people person and loved to write letters to her family and friends. Anyone who received letters from Ruby experienced her prose as a well-constructed story. Ruby enjoyed traveling, having gone to Las Vegas several times, and enjoyed Hawaii's beauty. Ruby was a volunteer driver for the SEMCAC Senior Dining Program for several years. Ruby's life revolved around her son and his family. She was very proud of her twin grandsons, and passed along to them her love of animals?especially cats, reading, history, nature, hospitality, and her faith. Ruby was happiest when she was able to spend time with her family and friends over a meal or every day conversations. A few highlights of what she was known and appreciated for was: her faith, her sense of humor, her candid perception into people and circumstances, and her passionate love for cats. Ruby is survived by her son, Donald (Jean) Huebner and Twin Grandsons, Jon and James of Altura. Her husband, Walter Huebner, and her parents preceded her in death.Ruby enjoyed her home at Lewiston Villa and formed lasting relationships with nurses, staff, and her fellow residents. Ruby's family extends our sincere thanks to each Lewiston Villa nurse, staff member, volunteer, and Winona Area Hospice Services. Ruby's family also extends our sincere thanks to Dr. Tom Retzinger whom Ruby trusted greatly. All of your prayers, support, and attentive care for our dear Ruby has been appreciated every day Ruby shared her life with all of you. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Our Savior's Moravian Church in Altura with the Rev. Frank Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Moravian Cemetery north of Altura. Friends may call at Our Savior's Moravian Church from 5-8 PM Wednesday and one hour before services Thursday.
