Roy D. Wetzel, 83, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. Roy was born March 21, 1923, in Winona, MN to Albert and Elsie (Grewe) Wetzel. Roy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He married Virginia Addelman on May 10, 1947 in Winona, MN. Roy was a life long carpenter in the Winona area. Along with working at several construction sites in the area Roy was a custom cabinet maker, worked for Whittaker Marine making houseboats, Continental Homes making prefab houses, Winona Camper making custom pickup campers and toppers and worked at St. Theresa's. Roy loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion in Winona.Survivors include his two sons, Rick of Winona and David of Fountain City, WI; daughter, Jeanne Ward Wetzel of Fountain City, WI; three grandchildren, Christine and Dustin Wetzel and Joel Gile; two great grandchildren, Harley Jo and John David Stoltz; and a sister, Leona Braatz of Fountain City, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia, daughter, Judy Gile, son, John Wetzel, sister, Ruby Ressie and brother, Earl Wetzel.A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007, at 10:30am at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Tribute Center in Goodview with Deacon James Welch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
