Rose Annette Robeson passed peacefully to her final rest on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, Minnesota, at 80 years of age. Remembering her life is a gift we give each other. Rose was born in Astoria, Oregon, on December 25, 1930, an only child to Cora and James Ingleton. She completed primary and secondary education in Astoria, and then attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She married Glenn Warren Robeson of Huron, South Dakota, on November 18, 1950, in Longview, Washington. In 1953, Rose and Glenn returned to his family home in Huron, where they raised four sons. She finished her BA in Education attending college part-time while working in the family optometry practice. A long-time member of American Lutheran Church in Huron, Rose is remembered for the way she shared in life's milestones for many - weddings, baptisms, funerals and youth gatherings - with her plentiful gifts of food and humor. She accompanied many a woman to better health through WeightWatchers. During 45 years of marriage, she and Glenn were active participants in and advocates of Marriage Encounter. In Rose's life and home, she showed her care and concern by putting others' needs before her own, and by opening her door to all in need. She never met a dog or a cat that she didn't like or couldn't save. Her home was big enough for any group of teenagers. In her recipe books, each family member's name was written next to their favorites - and her own favorites were simply marked 'Yummy!' Her refrigerator made a picnic at the lake or hors d'oeuvres for the bridge club possible at a moment's notice. Under the Christmas tree, even the most last-minute guests found surprises and welcome. And best of all, after Rose became a grandmother, the word "no" left her vocabulary entirely.Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Lee and his wife Mary, of Southampton, PA; Larry, of Huron, SD; Lane and his wife Valerie, of Winona, MN; and Lindsay and Tarra, of Mellette, SD; her step-sister Dorothy Johnson, of Astoria, OR; close friends Susie, Gail and Pam; eleven grandchildren (Joshua, Jason (Kara), Bart, Aimee (Phil), Jon, Tessie (Jarred), Victoria, Tucker, Walker, Emmy and Andrew); and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, on February 18, 1996, Rose is finally reunited with her companion and greatest comfort. Her life will be celebrated at a family memorial service planned in Huron, SD, for the early fall.
