Ronald Dee Pulley

January 31, 1948 — November 25, 2024

Chatfield

While working in the fields that he loved, Ronald Pulley passed away on November 25, 2024.

Ron was born on January, 31, 1948 near Huntington, Indiana. He grew up as one of four children of Albert and Marcille Pulley. Ron graduated from Lancaster High School of Huntington County, Indiana and Purdue University with a degree in Ag. Business Management.

Ron always wanted to be a farmer. He remembered sitting in school and watching out the window to see a farmer using a combine. Oh, how he wanted to be out on the farm. In 1970, Ron and Dianna came to Minnesota with a degree and a car. A partnership with Jack Dorey as an Income Tax Specialist was the start of a long business relationship, more ag business education, and many laughs over M*A*S*H. For 53 years Ron and Dianna worked through thick and thin to become Pulley Farms. Marketing and care of the soil were priorities of his farm plan. He used contour stripping, minimum tillage, and crop rotations. Fair and honest business was his hallmark. He “officially” retired after the 2017 season to give control to Ryan, however, no one could keep him out of the combine.

Ronald was a 4-H enthusiast in his youth, as a parent, and now as a grandparent. He was a cattle showperson in Indiana. His sons, Ryan and Reid showed cattle throughout the USA. Now his grandson, Tanner, shows swine at the Winona County and Minnesota State Fairs. Ron met his wife of 55 years. Dianna, through 4-H. As a long-time member of the Winona County Market Livestock Auction Committee, he was instrumental in building the addition to the cattle barn at the Winona County Fairgrounds. The Winona County and Minnesota State Fairs were favorite vacation days each year to see the animals, visit with farm friends, and watch his sons and grandson show their animals.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marcille Pulley. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Pulley, his sons, Ryan Pulley of St. Charles, MN; Reid Pulley of Silver Springs, NV; and his grandson, Tanner Pulley of St. Charles, MN.

There will be a private service for the family. His ashes will be spread on the farm that he cherished.

Cards of condolence will be treasured. Memorials will go toward 4-H activities at the Winona County Fair. Cards may be sent to 12417 Nichols Spring Drive, Chatfield, MN 55923.
