Ronald Joseph "Joe" Lewison, 65 of Houston, died September 30, 2023, after a short battle with a rare non-hodgkins lymphoma. We are shocked and saddened by this loss and will miss him deeply as he was the pulse of our family and the community he built around him.
Ron was born April 14, 1958 in Austin, MN to Richard “Bud” and Harriet (Brandt) Lewison. He spent his early years farming, discovering his love of mechanics, causing trouble with his 8 brothers and sisters and eating foot long french fries with his high school crush. After graduating from Southland High School in Adams in 1976, Ron joined the United States Army. On December 23, 1977, he married his high school sweetheart Carlita “Cardy” Boley. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Ron worked over 40 years in the manufacturing industry first at Sanborn in Springfield, MN, where he met his best friend, who later followed him to Machine Products in Lacrosse, WI. Ron retired from Trane Company in 2021, where he never perfectly fit the corporate mold but always delivered and was loved by his team for his “just relax” mentality. After retirement, he enjoyed helping a long time family friend with farming.
Outside of work, Ron was an avid outdoorsman, mechanic, beer-can-roller and a jack-of-all- trades. As he raised his young family, summers were spent water skiing, camping, canoeing and fishing while winters were spent snowmobiling and hunting. As his children grew, he impacted the lives of other children and his grandchildren by teaching them to fish, hunt and build. The garage was always full of family and friends eager to participate in the next adventure or reminisce his crazy stories. When he wasn’t in his garage he would be out traveling: snowmobile trips out west, fishing trips up north, motorcycling on his Indian, or whatever crazy European adventure his daughter drug him on.
He is survived by his wife, Cardy; children, Chris (Crystal) and Brandy Lewison (Brant Rubin); grandchildren, Dalton, Maverick, Lucy and Romy; siblings, Rick, Denny (Nancy), Julie (Keith) Small, Robbin (Darwin) Small, Mike (Sue), Tom (Denise), Patty (Jeff) Allen, Janelle (Earl Moen), and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of his life is being planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Houston Area Cancer Support Group.
Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – Houston is assisting the family with arrangements.
