Roger O. Jore, 72, of Houston died Wednesday, March 22, at Gundersen - Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Roger was born on March 4, 1934, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Ole and Emma (Sanden) Jore. He was raised in rural Houston where he lived on the same farm all of his life. Roger attended lower Sheldon School and graduated from Houston High School in 1952. He was co-captain of the only undefeated football team in Houston High's history in 1951. Roger farmed his entire career. Roger married Marilyn Knutson at Stone Church on September 11, 1954. He was a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and a member of the church choir for 57 years, Houston School Board for 13 years, and the Winona Barbershop Chorus for several years. Roger had been a soloist for over 200 funerals, as well as soloist at many weddings. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; four children: Jim (Jean) Jore of Courtland, Minn., Renee Lemyre of New Ulm, Minn., John Jore of LaCrosse, Wis., and Brian (Trodee) Jore of Prior Lake, Minn.; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers: Robert (Grace) Jore of Houston, and Rolf (Marilyn) Jore of Caledonia, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
