Roger D. "Joe" Baumbach, 78, of St. Charles passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles.Joe was born to Reuben and Theresa Baumbach on August 27, 1935. He attended St. Charles Public Schools until entering the US Army in 1952. Joe and Sandra Moritz were married February 16, 1963 and later divorced. They had two children, Tina and Joseph, both of Powhatan, VA. Joe retired after serving 20 years in the Army, during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Joe enjoyed umpiring softball games, riding his classic bicycle around St. Charles, bus trips to Treasure Island Casino and his routine coffee stops at Cabin Coffee.He is survived by a daughter, Tina (Tommy) Carter; son, JC Baumbach; grandchildren, Jessica, Kevin, Spencer, Ethan, Trevor and Addyson; Great Grandson, Anthony; brother Loren (Mary) Baumbach; brothers-in-law; Roger Staloch and George Meyer; sisters- in- law, Eleanor Baumbach and Donna Baumbach,; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, Leonard, Calvin, Eugene, Kenneth and Duane, Sisters Muriel, Elinor and Barbara, and twin great grandchildren Aubrey and Aiden.Joe will be missed by the patrons of Cabin Coffee and the many friends he made on his bus trips, at the casino and the passers by on his bike rides.Memorial service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Steve McGinley officiating. Lunch and social gathering at Moose Lodge #1114 immediately following. His final farewell, with full military honors, will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery next to his GI buddies.
