Roger Allen Fort, 82, of Minnesota City died Monday, December 7, 2020 at his home. Roger was born March 5, 1938 to Peter Sr. and Margaret (Rossin) Fort in Stockton Hill in Hillsdale Township. He attended Winona Senior High School and Winona Secretarial School. Roger began working for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 35 years, 15 of which he was the Interment Foreman for the Winona County District. Roger married the love of his life, Gloria Pollema, on March 8, 2014.
In his free time he enjoyed hunting, with Grouse and Raccoon, he always said in the fall there wasn't a raccoon safe in any tree. He also loved playing cards, especially 500, which was his favorite, fishing and softball. He also enjoyed listening to country music, high school basketball, Winona State basketball, watching the Twins and Packers, especially Aaron Rodgers. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Elsie, his Yellow Lab.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; siblings, John, Susie Nienow, Janet Giep.
He is preceded in death by his son, Martin; brothers, Harold, Clyde "Bobby", Kenny, and Peter; sisters, Violet Erickson, Lorraine Mentgen, Ethel "Tootie" Gibbs, and Bette Sievers.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with prayers at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview. Roger will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church, Minnesota City. Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
